How to Order
Ordering is simple.
  1. Choose the category of plants you want the seeds for. This can be done from the home page. Lets say you want to order Palm seeds. Click on Palms & Cycads.
  2. Once on the Palms & Cycads page, you will see the list of all the palm and cycad seeds we have available right now. Against each species, you will find a box and a dollar amount. The dollar amount is the cost of the number of seeds mentioned in the title of that particular row. The box is the place where you enter the number of units of seeds you want. For eg. if you need 10 seeds you will enter the number 1 in the 10 unit box ($/10). If you need 230 seeds you will enter 3 in the 10-unit box ($/10) and 2 in 100-unit box ($/100).
  3. Continue this process till you have entered the desired quantity for all the seeds that you want in that category. Once you are done, click the Add to Cart button.
  4. If you want to order seeds of other plants - like Succulents - go to the Home page and select the next category and repeat steps 2 to 4 till you are done.
  5. Once you are done with the ordering process, go to the shopping cart (by clicking on the Shopping Cart sign right below the Ortanique logo)
  6. Verify that you have all that you want - including species, quantity and the price. Feel free to change the quantity - and remember to click on the Update button (to the left of the Sub Total)
  7. Once you are sure, everything is alright and the way you want it, click on the Proceed to Checkout button. This will take you to the screen that will ask for your credit card details.
  8. Enter the information for all the columns with an * . This is mandatory information that the bank needs to process your credit card.
  9. Once you have entered all the information - click on Submit which will submit your card and other details for processing.
Shipping Information

Within the United States of America: All shipments within the United States will be shipped via USPS (United States Postal Service) unless advised otherwise. All shipments will be made by First Class mail only. Shipments over 16 ounces (453 gms approx.) are shipped via priority mail. Large shipments, and those containing large seeds, will be shipped via DHL ground - unless advised otherwise.

Alternate shipping arrangements, if desired, will be arranged - however the shipping charges will differ and has to be communicated via email. In such cases - please do not submit orders online. Kindly communicate such orders via email only.

International shipments: Our website is currently not setup to handle international orders. If you would like to place an order - please send us the list of seeds and the quantity and we will send you a quote (within 24 hours) with the total. You can then pay us by credit card, wire transfer, paypal or check. All shipments outside of the United States of America will be shipped via EMS or air letter post whichever offers the best value in terms of shipment time and money.

We will strive to ship your seeds within 2 weeks of recieving the order. From time to time - when there is a rush of orders - it might take 3 weeks to ship the seeds. Orders requiring phytosanitary certificate might take 3 weeks for shipping. If you do not recieve your seeds within a few days after this time, please do contact us at plants@ortanique.com.

Germination Guarantee

We strive to deliver the freshest seeds possible. We buy sell seeds from all over the world. This means that the seeds come from different habitats, climatic and soil conditions. We do not profess to be experts in all the different factors that affect the germination of these exotic seeds. And for this reason we do not give germination guarantees on our seeds. This is not to say that our seeds or fresh nor that they will not germinate. They will be. But we would rather be honest and forthright about our ignorance of the seed germination characteristics of the seeds that we sell.

On the same note and for the same reason, we do not give cookie cut germination information for any of the seeds we sell. In the future, we plan to display germination experiences from our valued customers. If you have a germination experience that you would like to share - please send it along and we will be happy to display that.

Some of the seeds that we sell, germinate while still in storage. We are happy to ship them to our customers at no extra cost to them. While this is a good thing and makes many of our customers very happy, its entirely possible some of you may not want germinated seeds - especially if you are going to forward this on to some one else, or if the seeds are going to reach you in the cold time of the year. In such situations, it is imperative that you send us a note asking us not to ship germinated seeds. If we do not recieve any such note, we will presume that you are one of those customers who are happy to recieve germinated seeds.

Return Policy

We strive to ship the freshest seeds possible. Most of our seeds are stored in moist peat for this very reason. However, if you feel that the wrong species has been sent, or if the seeds are rotten then we will replace the seeds or refund the cost of the seeds if reported within 3 days of the receipt of the seeds. If the shipment is damaged, broken or open then please report it to the shipping company. As stated under the "Germination Guarantee" section - we cannot guarantee the germination of the seeds. However, we will replace any seed that has failed in our germination tests. If you would like to return any seeds - please inform us before doing so. All returns should be sent to the address above.

Endangered Species

To help conserve endangered species, and to help establish these species in their native habitats/colonies - where they thrive the best, we will not be shipping seeds on CITES I, and a few on CITES II, outside of the United States. The seeds of such species are always collected and made available from second generation cultivated specimens or those that have been legally imported with the appropriate CITES documentation either by us or by our other US based suppliers. We have taken an effort to mark these species with an "*" (asterisk symbol) - on our price lists. While we try to mark all of the species covered by CITES - it is very likely that we might miss one or two. In such situations we will appreciate you pointing it to us. Also, if we realise that we have not marked something, but if the species is indeed protected - then we will let you know before shipping the rest of the seeds. You can then choose to order something else in its place or we will be happy to give you a refund for that amount. Please join us in helping conserve the endagered species of planet Earth.
